Oracle Red Bull Racing launch title defence with the Honda RBPTH002

Today, Oracle Red Bull Racing launched the RB20 to compete in the 2024 season of the Formula 1 World Championship, at an event held at the team’s HQ in Milton Keynes, U.K.

The 2024 season marks 20 years of Oracle Red Bull Racing, and sixty years since Honda’s first participation in Formula 1, when the RA271 made its competitive debut at the 1964 German GP with driver Ronnie Bucknum.

This season, Oracle Red Bull Racing powered by Honda RBPT’s leading PU technology aims to secure its fourth consecutive Drivers’ and third consecutive Constructors’ Formula 1 World Championship titles.

As defending champions, the team swept to the Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles last season – the Honda RBPTH001 powering the RB19 to a record-beating 21 wins from 22 races for an unrivalled 95.5% win rate.

This season, the RB20 will be powered by the dominant, renamed Honda RBPTH002 1.6l V6 Hybrid PU. More information is available at: https://honda.racing/f1/machines.

Reigning World Champion Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez will once again line-up for the team this season, having finished first and second in the world last year.

Official Formula 1 testing starts on 21-23 February at the Bahrain International Circuit, followed shortly by the season-opening Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix on 29 Feb to 2 March.

Honda will continue to celebrate 60 years since its first Formula 1 race throughout the 2024 season.

Koji Watanabe, HRC President

“I am honoured to celebrate with Oracle Red Bull Racing its 20th anniversary, in this year which also marks the 60th year since Honda first competed in an F1 race.

”As technical and team partners, HRC and Honda are truly proud to have worked with Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, and the team with extraordinary teamwork, to achieve an overwhelming 21 victories in 22 races last season, a feat that has gone down in Formula 1 history.

”HRC and Honda will continue to provide full support this season as partners, and will continue the challenge for the team’s fourth consecutive title.”

Christian Horner, Oracle Red Bull Racing Team Principal and CEO

"It is exciting to commence our 20th-anniversary season alongside Honda F1's 60th-anniversary year. We are grateful to be a part of their extensive F1 history, relishing in what has been one of the most successful years for both of our teams.

“In the previous season, the Honda RBPTH001 powered us to an impressive 21 wins out of 22 races, setting and renewing numerous legendary records in F1's storied history. Max has now earned the distinction of being the most successful Honda driver. Reflecting on our journey, from the outset of our partnership in 2019, we secured a podium on our debut, and within just three seasons, we embarked on a triumphant streak, clinching three consecutive World Championship titles.

“I am proud of this successful collaboration with Honda through Red Bull Powertrains which continues to embody the same challenging spirit and determination to win that Honda has maintained over the course of 60 years.”
