First double finish of the season in Miami
The Miami Grand Prix, Round 4 of the Formula 1 season, took place on Sunday, 3 May at Miami International Autodrome.

The race was brought forward by three hours from its originally scheduled start time due to a forecast of thunderstorms.
Fernando Alonso started from 17th on the grid, with Lance Stroll in 18th. Alonso briefly dropped to 20th in the early stages, while Stroll made progress to move up to 16th.
On lap 21, Stroll, running in 18th, made his pit stop, switching from medium to soft tyres and rejoining in the same position. Alonso extended his stint on medium tyres to 40 laps before pitting for softs. He rejoined in 16th and began chasing Sergio Perez in the Cadillac, who was 4.4 seconds ahead.
By lap 46, Alonso had closed to within one second of Perez. From Lap 47 onwards, the two traded positions in a close battle, before Alonso overtook Perez on the back straight on Lap 53 to move up to 15th.
Both cars of the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One™ Team completed the 57-lap race, with Alonso finishing 15th and Stroll 17th, marking the team’s first double finish of the season.

It's good to have both cars finish the race for the first time this season. We are still not where we want to be, but this weekend has allowed us to collect more data which we can analyse over the next few weeks before Canada. We have made clear progress in reliability, now our focus turns to performance. We need to keep working and be patient as a team.

It's the first time this season both cars finished a race, so that's a positive to take from Miami. We managed to get more mileage in the car and experienced fewer vibrations this weekend. In hindsight, our tyre strategy didn't work out but from a reliability perspective we've made a step in the right direction.
We now need to work on our performance-related issues. There are lots of areas for us to improve on.

Our focus over the break was to work with Honda to improve the PU's vibrations into the chassis. That work has paid off and we have taken an important step forward on reliability this weekend. While that is a positive, there's clearly more we need to do together to improve our pace and unlock the potential of this package.
