Austrian Grand Prix Race Setup #F1

at Red Bull Ring

Honda power stays in Austria for part three of Formula 1’s first triple-header of the 2021 season.

Austrian Grand Prix Race Setup #F1

Last weekend at the Styrian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen drove to victory in Austria, for the second time under Honda-power. An alternate race strategy from Red Bull Racing saw Sergio Perez closing in on the podium as the race reached its final laps, finishing less than half a second behind Valtteri Bottas in P3 at the chequered flag.

An unfortunate puncture for Pierre Gasly on the opening lap saw his race end before it had even gotten started. However, a strong drive from outside the points from Yuki Tsunoda saw Scuderia AlphaTauri Honda continue their points scoring streak in 2021.

Uncertainty over the weather conditions has left everyone looking to the skies since our arrival last week. With the forecast forever changing in the Austrian hills, the team will have to be ready to react to any changes that the elements throw our way.

With a strong weekend of data to reference, we will be pushing hard to build upon the successes of last weekend and have an even better weekend with all four Honda-powered cars.

This week we race at the Red Bull Ring for the second consecutive Sunday, the only change being the name of the event, which is the Austrian Grand Prix.  Last time, Max’s strong performance delivered Honda’s fourth consecutive win of the season and in fact all four Honda-powered cars performed well. We want to keep that momentum going and there is maybe a little bit of added pressure from racing at Red Bull’s home track once again. The only technical difference that affects all teams is that the Pirelli tyres are all one step softer and with cooler weather predicted this time, it will be interesting to see what effect this has on tyre strategy. Everyone now has plenty of data from last week to improve their performance and we too hope that we can have another good race with both our teams.
