Three of the top four for Honda Asia-Dream Racing in Thailand
The final round of the ARRC started strongly for the HADR team, with pole, race 1 victory and all three riders in the top four as Izdihar leads the title challenge by 7 points
The Chang International Circuit plays host to the final round of the 2024 season this weekend, with the ASB1000 championship still to be decided.
Qualifying this morning was very good - Andi tried a new setting and to good effect, giving him pole position. He was followed by Nakarin taking 2nd grid, and Zaqhwan starting 6th.
The opening race of the weekend started in the afternoon and all three riders made a great start, especially Zaqhwan who launched himself straight into the front group with Andi and Nakarin. Andi strengthened his title challenge with a lights-to-flag victory, while Zaqwhan fought through to third place before passing Nakarin to take the second step of the podium. Nakarin then lost the front a ran wide, meaning he slipped to fourth.
Nonetheless it was a strong opening day for the team, with Andi leading the title fight by seven points as the series enters the final race of the season tomorrow.
Andi Farid Izdihar #23 – QP : Pole Position / Race1 : Win
"I am so happy for today that we can make big step in QP and win race 1, but we still have Race 2 tomorrow. So, I want to focus for tomorrow, analyse more details with the team and be more ready for tomorrow's final race!"
Zaqhwan Zaidi #21 – QP : P6 / Race1 : P2
"In Race 1 today I was so happy with my result and performance and I feel so good. I don’t have any words to say, just thanks to the team who make the bike perfectly today. So, we have race 2 and it's the last race of the season so I will do my best to be on top again."
Nakarin Atiratphuvapat #41 – QP : P2 / Race1 : P4
"In qualifying I had a very good feeling, and in the race Andi and I had very consistent lap times. I tried to follow him until the end, but my front tyre lost grip and I couldn't keep my pace. Tomorrow I will try some settings to improve."
Makoto Tamada - HADR Team Manager
"Today's result is great. Qualifying was also great. However, I was a little worried about the long distance leading up to Race 1 because I knew our rivals were fast, but the moment we started, all my worries disappeared. The three of us pulled away from the rivals behind us. Nakarin was passed in the last two laps and dropped to fourth place, but the riders and team staff did a really great job. We can't let our guard down until the end of Race 2 tomorrow, but I want to say a big thank you to everyone for today. Tomorrow is an even more important race, so we'll be supporting you until the end."
