Izdihar rounds out Mandalika weekend with second podium

Sunday's second race of Round 4 of the Asia Road Racing Championship at the Mandalika circuit was a successful affair particularly for Andi Farid Izdihar, who kept his cool to take a second podium of the weekend and in doing so the lead of the championship.

Fighting until the line, Izdihar crossed the line in third after the 13-lap race. Zaqhwan Zaidi made a good start and kept chase with the front group, taking the chequered flag in fourth at the front of a three-way battle.

Nakarin Atiratphuvapat was also fighting in the same group at the start of the race, but after dropping back to the following group he lost the front and crashed out. Remounting and continuing the race, he ultimately finished in 9th.

The next round of the championship is Round 5 at Sepang Circuit, Malaysia on 13-15 September.

Andi Farid Izdihar #23 –Race2 : P3

"To be honest I am so happy that I can be on the podium today because the race was not going to plan. I expected better today but finally it was so difficult. I was struggling with the rear grip. I didn't have the same feeling as yesterday but the set up was same just condition of the track make it different. So I just want to say thanks for all team staff and next race we make it better!"

Zaqhwan Zaidi #21 –Race2 : P4

"So, today in Race 2 I feel so happy to get my feeling back after a big crash in practice. I lost the momentum and finally in Race 2 I can push to go faster, and to get P4 was not so bad. Anyway, I want to thank all the team who worked really hard to prepare my bike perfectly. I will comeback strong next round."

Nakarin Atiratphuvapat #41 –Race2 : P9

"On Sunday I had an idea to try different sprocket and swingarm settings in the heat and I had a very good feeling and the lap time was a big improvement so I kept this setting for the race. At the start of Race 2 I felt the track condition was not so good and I lost the front when pushing and had an unlucky crash in turn 1. I took my bike to continue to finish the race for championship points. This is racing, we don't know what will happen. Next, I will see you in Sepang, I will come back stronger."

Makoto Tamada - HADR Team Manager

"In the warmup session before Race 2, Nakarin and Zaqhwan tried new settings. Nakarin changed the sprocket to shorten the swingarm a little, which solved the problems in Race 1 and successfully improved his lap time. Zaqhwan made major changes to the rear suspension settings and successfully improved his lap time too. Andi took on Race 2 without any changes from yesterday.

"In Race 2, the low track temperature affected the rear tyre's lack of grip. Despite this, Andi took 3rd place and took the championship lead. Zaqhwan also proved that his rear suspension was in the right direction, finishing in 4th place. Nakarin crashed but finished in 9th place at the restart. He earned points. Next up is Zaqhwan's home race, the Malaysian round. Thank you to all our sponsors for your support."
