One-two for Repsol Honda Trial Team in Italy

Toni Bou leaves Sestriere with two victories and Gabriel Marcelli places second.

The last round of the TrialGP World Championship before the summer break was held in Sestriere this weekend, and the Repsol Honda Trial Team riders were a dominant force. Toni Bou took two wins in Italy, making six consecutive wins in the series. His teammate, Gabriel Marcelli, was second and remains in third position in the championship.

Bou once again dominated on the second day of competition in Sestriere. On the first lap, he incurred just two penalty points as he set the pace. On the second time around, the 32-time champion continued at the top of the standings and earned his sixth consecutive victory.

Marcelli ended the TrialGP of Italy with a great second place. The Repsol Honda Trial Team rider began the first lap fighting for the podium places but finished fourth. On the second lap, Marcelli put in a spectacular performance, was the rider with the fewest penalty points, with three, and earned the runner-up spot.

Bou increased the lead over nearest rival Jaime Busto to 29 points. Marcelli maintains third position with 161 points. The last round of the Outdoor World Championship will be held from September 1-3th in Vertolaye, France.

It's been a fantastic weekend for us, with the two wins. The team have worked very well; we have been working all this month in Andorra at this same altitude and in the end our effort has been rewarded. Without them, it would not have been possible. We are very happy going into the break. We did not expect to leave here as many points ahead, so we will work well for the last two races in France and try to secure the title.

Today was a great day. I think I had a good first lap, but the second lap was especially good. I managed to make almost no mistakes and gained positions. The feeling with the bike today at the end was incredible, so we can go into the summer break very calm. After the first lap I knew I had a chance to be up there, as it was very tight, but I knew I had to have a good second lap. I managed to put my nerves to one side and take off the pressure, and I think that allowed me to ride at the level that I really have.

First of all, I would like to thank the team and HRC for the work they have done to prepare for these two rounds in Italy. Today has been an incredible day, with both riders on the podium. Yesterday I spoke with Gabri and pushed him to try to get a better result, and he did it. He had an incredible second lap, with only three penalty points, and he was the best rider, for which I am very happy. As for Toni, he has six consecutive victories, which means that he has a bigger advantage over Jaime in the championship and is closer to getting another title. It has been a great day and thanks again to everyone for their work.
