Bou back to winning ways in Germany

The Repsol Honda rider takes his sixth victory of the season, whilst Gabriel Marcelli is fourth.

This Saturday saw the first day of competition at the fourth round of the season, held in Neunkirchen (Germany). Toni Bou earned the win, whilst Gabriel Marcelli had a difficult day and fell just short of the podium.

Bou showed his dominance from the first lap. The Repsol Honda Team rider took the lead after completing the zones with only 7 penalty points. On the second lap, the Montesa Cota 4RT rider raised the bar even further, completing the 12 zones with only one error. The win extends his lead in the overall standings, with 137 points to his name.

It was a tough first day in Germany for Gabriel Marcelli. The Repsol Honda rider began the first lap with three consecutive failures that took him away from the podium positions in a close race. After the first lap he was in sixth position, just 7 points away from the podium spots. For Lap 2, he was able to improve in all areas, but it was not enough to get onto the rostrum and he finished in fourth position. Marcelli maintains second place in the overall standings, with 103 points.

On Sunday, the Repsol Honda Team riders will begin the second round in Germany at 9am local time.

I felt very comfortable, as there were quite easy zones, where it was difficult to make a difference. We gained a small advantage in the first zones on Lap 1, and that was what we were able to use to make a difference with respect to Jaime at the end of the second lap. I am happy with the victory. Tomorrow there will be changes, but if it continues to be easy like today, this victory will give us some more confidence -especially because it rained today and we do not know if the zones will dry out by tomorrow. I want to thank the team for the great work they have done.

Today my feeling with the bike was not the best, but I felt comfortable with my riding. I made too many mistakes on the first lap, but on the second I managed to fight back and be more precise. It was not enough to get onto the podium, since the scores were very close, and finally we achieved a fourth position. It is not the result we had hoped for, but they are good points for the championship, where we maintain second place. Tomorrow we will give it our best, even though we do not know if the terrai will be dry or wet due to the rain today. The team have done a great job and tomorrow we will look to get back on the podium.

It was a great day for Toni, with another victory. I am very happy with the work the team did. On the second lap he only made one mistake and was very comfortable during the two laps. In addition, he increased his lead in the championship, so it has been a very positive day for him. As for Gabri, he didn't have his best day today. He got fives on three zones in a row on the first lap and those errors carried over into the second lap, where he was unable to close the gap to his rivals. Tomorrow he will have to push if he wants to get a good result; we trust that he can put in a good performance and has the level to fight for the top positions.
