The IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia Moto2 riders encountered a challenging qualifying day at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

Tough Saturday at Misano for Chantra and Aji

Thai rider Somkiat Chantra, who secured a direct entry into Q2, suffered an unfortunate crash during the final qualifying session in the afternoon, preventing him from completing a proper time-attack lap. As a result, he will start tomorrow's race from 18th position. Indonesian rookie Mario Aji also struggled to find pace during Q1 and will begin from 26th on the grid.

It has been a tough day for our team here in Misano. This morning, Somkiat Chantra felt more comfortable with the bike, leading us to hope for a better result during the qualifying session. Unfortunately, he crashed during Q2. While it's fortunate that he's physically fine and can race tomorrow, it’s disappointing that he couldn’t set his best lap, leaving him in 18th position. This isn't the result we expected, so we’ll need to work hard tomorrow to recover.
Mario Aji continued to push and aimed to improve his lap times, but he ultimately finished 26th. While we anticipated better results from both riders, it was not our best day. However, we believe we can make improvements in tomorrow’s race and move up the grid during the action on track.

Today we had our final practice and qualifying sessions. This morning, during the second practice, I felt really good as we made improvements to the bike’s setup. However, during qualifying, despite some positive adjustments, I crashed in Turn 10 while pushing for a strong grid position. As a result, I couldn’t complete a competitive lap. Starting from 18th tomorrow is not ideal, but I’ll give my best to achieve a good result for myself and the team.

We made progress compared to last week, and I felt comfortable during the final practice session. However, in Qualifying 1, I encountered some issues that we’ll need to address with the team to resolve before tomorrow. It wasn’t the ideal day for me, and qualifying was challenging, but the important thing is that we understand and analyze what we need to improve.
We must stay positive and keep pushing. Tomorrow is race day, and I’ll give my best to deliver a strong performance, especially ahead of the Mandalika race. I’m grateful to my team for always supporting me, and I will do my best to reward them with a good result tomorrow.
