The IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia riders faced a difficult Saturday at the Silverstone Circuit during the British Grand Prix Qualifying.

Challenging Saturday at Silverstone for Chantra & Aji

Thai rider Somkiat Chantra, who showed promise during Friday's practice sessions and the final practice today, finished the Qualifying in 13th position. Meanwhile, Indonesian rookie Mario Aji, despite a positive Saturday given his shoulder pain, narrowly missed entering Q2 and concluded the day in 21st place on the grid for tomorrow's race.

Today we had a dry qualifying day in Silverstone. Both riders improved their morning lap times during the afternoon session. Mario Aji was competitive in Q1, fighting for a spot in Q2. For much of the session, he was able to advance but ultimately couldn’t improve on his second lap time attack, placing him 21st on the grid.
Somkiat Chantra performed well in Q2, but a mistake in the last sector during his second lap time attack cost him some time. Despite his ideal lap time being faster, he couldn’t fully realize his potential. The gap between riders at this circuit is minimal, so a strong start and following their strategy could lead to a successful race for both riders tomorrow in the United Kingdom.

Today we had the qualifying and final practice sessions. The morning felt good with the bike, and we made improvements compared to yesterday. Although we made progress, so did everyone else, and we didn’t achieve the desired result in qualifying.
We have the strength and capacity to be further up the grid, so tomorrow I hope for a good start and a solid path to the front positions. I will give my best to secure a good result here in Silverstone.

Overall, today was positive. The feeling and lap times improved throughout the practice sessions. I felt comfortable from the beginning, but in qualifying, I couldn’t make it to Q2. Nevertheless, I believe there’s a significant chance to perform well in the race tomorrow.
My optimism is high, and almost making it to Q2 is encouraging. However, there is still much to improve. We need to discuss with the team where I can make improvements for tomorrow’s race. The general feeling is very good, and I am happy with the progress. There is always room for improvement, but we are on the right track.
