Tough mission for Chantra and Aji in tomorrow's race

It was a challenging day for the IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia riders in Austin. Somkiat Chantra came very close to qualifying for Q2 and will start from 19th position. Meanwhile, Mario Aji, showing improvement in his lap times, will start from the 25th position. Despite the starting positions, we remain hopeful that both riders will discover a strong race pace and contend for valuable points.

In Moto2 qualifying, Mario Aji finished in 25th position, while Somkiat Chantra landed in 19th. We were hoping for a better result from Chantra, as he missed out on Qualifying 2 by only 0.1 seconds due to a mistake in turn 1 that prevented him from improving his lap time. Despite this setback, I believe Chantra is in good shape and has the potential for a stronger performance in tomorrow's race.  Regarding Mario, he expressed feeling a sense of improvement. He managed to shave off more than a second from his morning lap times, which is encouraging. Although there's still considerable work to be done, Mario's progress and positive sensations indicate that his hard work is paying off. Let's remain optimistic that this effort will translate into results during tomorrow's race.

Today, during the second practice session and qualifying here in Austin, I gave it my all to secure a spot in Qualifying 2, but unfortunately, I fell short. Consequently, I'll be starting tomorrow's race from the 19th position on the grid. It's going to be a challenging race, but I'm fully committed to giving everything I've got to achieve a positive result here at the Circuit of the Americas.

Today has been another positive day for both me and the team. We tried some new set up in the morning, which brought some challenges during the second practice. However, we made some adjustments in the afternoon, and by the time qualifying came around, my feeling was significantly better and that makes me happy. Despite not achieving the ideal lap time, there were many positive things. I’m still adjusting and finding out how to approach some specific corners in the correct way, so let’s take all the positive things from today and put all this good energy in tomorrow’s race, let’s hope we have a good result.
