The Moto2 World Championship is the intermediate class of Grand Prix motorcycle racing with a single supplier of engines and tyres but a choice of chassis.
Moto2 was initially powered by a 600cc Honda four-stroke engine, and the class was introduced in 2010 to replace the traditional 250cc two-stroke category. Engines are supplied exclusively by a single manufacturer, tyres by Dunlop and electronics are limited and provided only by FIM-sanctioned producers. Carbon brake discs are banned; only steel brake discs are allowed. However, there are no chassis limitations. Until 2019, only Honda's 600cc in-line four four-stroke Moto2 engine was permitted, but the supplier changed in 2019 to a 765cc displacement with three cylinders, changing the torque characteristics with the intent to make the machines closer to their MotoGP bigger brothers.
