Eighth for Mario Suryo Aji in San Marino

On the first visit for the Asia Talent Team to the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli for the FIM CEV, the team's three riders worked hard to adapt to the circuit, without Free Practice in which to set up their bikes. In Saturday's race, Mario finished 8th, Tatchakorn Buasri 17th and Takuma Matsuyama 20th.

Suryo Aji enjoyed a good weekend, in which he was among the fastest riders in every outing on track. In the race he fought a continuous battle at the head of a large group chasing the three frontrunners. Up between 4th and 6th position, an error on the last corner of the race meant that he fell to eighth at the checkered flag.

Buasri took off from 21st on the grid, but contact with another rider made him lose further positions at the beginning of the race. However, he did not give up and was progressively able to regain positions to finish 17th.

Matsuyama, who started in fourth position, managed to stay with Mario in the early stages of the race, but little by little lost grip and was unable to keep up, dropping to 20th before the end.

With this result, Mario climbs to 9th in the FIM Moto3 Junior Championship, with 58 points, Takuma Matsuyama is 13th, with 51 points, and Tatchakorn Buasri is 24th, with 9 points.

The next event for the Asia Talent Team will be the last round of the FIM CEV, which will contest two races, on November 21st.

Overall, the weekend was positive -even though the result was not what we had hoped for. We made a small mistake in QP1 and started 12th in the race, which made things more difficult. I was too aggressive at the beginning of the race and I went wide on a corner, but I was able to come back up to fourth. We were fighting to lead that group in fourth place, and the three riders at the front were able to escape. On the last lap I was fifth, but I had a big slide on the last corner and that made me lose positions and place eighth. Despite the result, I am happy because we fought for fourth place. We will come back stronger at the next race.

This weekend has been difficult, because it was my first time at this circuit. In QP1 and QP2 we were still learning, and we had very different conditions, so it was more difficult to work on our setup. We continued to learn from each outing on track. On the fourth lap, a rider took me off-track and I lost positions, dropping to 28th, but I kept pushing and I managed to move back up to 17th. I am quite happy about that.

The conditions were very difficult in Qualifying; half wet and finally drying out. It was my first time at this track but I was able to get a lap time that was not bad, and I was fourth on the grid. In the race I didn't have much grip and I couldn't push hard. That meant that I could not overtake or maintain a good pace. I will try to do my best at the next round.
