Effort without reward at Misano for Idemitsu Honda Team Asia
Misano World Circuit Marco SimoncelliIdemitsu Honda Team Asia fought through a demanding San Marino Grand Prix at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, with Taiyo Furusato recovering strongly from the back of the grid to finish P17, while Mario Suryo Aji crossed the line in P22.
Furusato was forced to start from the back of the grid following his slow-riding penalty from Saturday’s qualifying, but the Japanese rookie produced a determined opening lap, gaining nine positions to move from P29 to P20. He continued to make progress throughout the race, eventually reaching P17, but the pace was not quite strong enough to make any further gains and he finished just outside the points in P17.
For Aji, the race began with an incident involving several riders on the opening lap. The Indonesian avoided being caught in the incident but lost some positions in the process. He was able to maintain a consistent pace during the race, but a lack of front-end grip made it difficult for him to push further and recover positions, leaving him in P22 at the chequered flag.
Neither result matched the team’s ambitions for the weekend, but with the Austrian Grand Prix taking place in just seven days, there is no time to dwell on the disappointment. Idemitsu Honda Team Asia will now analyse the Misano weekend, identify the areas requiring improvement and immediately turn its attention to the Red Bull Ring.

IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia It was a demanding and hard race for both of our riders. The race started with an incident involving several riders, and fortunately our riders avoided being involved in the crash, although Mario lost some positions at the beginning.Taiyo made a very good start from the back of the grid. He gained a lot of positions on the first lap, going from P29 to P20, and then continued to recover positions during the race until he reached P17. He made a good comeback, but unfortunately the pace was not enough to catch the riders further ahead, so we could not reach the position we wanted.On Mario’s side, his pace was quite consistent, but he had some problems with the front grip during the race. This made it difficult for him to push harder and improve his position, so he finished P22.These are not the positions we want. Both riders should be further forward, so we are not happy with the result, but we have to accept it, understand what we need to improve and work harder to go faster.I want to thank our sponsors, supporters and all our staff for their work this weekend. Now we need to change our mindset quickly and move on to next week in Austria. We have another opportunity there, so let’s work hard and try to be stronger.

I’m disappointed because I worked hard and we wanted more from this race, but I think we made a small step in the right direction compared with where we started.Now we have Austria in only one week, so there is no time to stop. We don’t have much time before the next race, so now I want to reset, take the positive things from the weekend and focus on Austria. We will work hard and try to come back stronger there.
