Saturday proved to be a difficult day for Idemitsu Honda Team Asia in the Moto2 class, as both Mario Suryo Aji and Taiyo Furusato suffered crashes during qualifying and were unable to secure the grid positions they had been targeting for the British Grand Prix.

A Saturday to Forget, A Sunday to Fight Back: Crashes Disrupt Qualifying Day at Silverstone

The morning session had offered some positive signs, with Mario Aji finishing P17 as he continued to build his feeling with the bike, while Taiyo Furusato was still working to find the right pace and setup around the demanding Silverstone Circuit. However, qualifying brought a very different scenario for both riders.

Furusato's session came to an early end after a crash prevented the Japanese rookie from completing a lap, leaving him classified in P28 and set to start Sunday's 17-lap race from the 10th row of the grid.

On the other side of the garage, Mario Aji was also unable to complete a lap after a heavy crash during the session. The Indonesian rider was involved in an incident where another rider's trajectory affected his line, resulting in a high-speed crash. Despite the impact, Mario escaped serious injury and, after being checked by the medical team, was cleared to continue his weekend. He will start the race from P18.

With both riders unable to show their true potential in qualifying, the team now faces a demanding recovery mission for Sunday's race. The bikes will be repaired and prepared, while both riders will look to put Saturday behind them and make the most of the opportunities that a long Silverstone race can bring.

Unfortunately, it was a really difficult qualifying day for us. Both riders had crashes, with Taiyo already having a crash yesterday and Mario crashing again this morning. We have had quite a lot of crashes during these days, and Mario's qualifying crash was particularly heavy, at around 240 km/h.
Fortunately, neither rider has suffered any serious injury, which is the most important thing. Of course, this is not the best situation for us as a team before the race, but the positive point is that both riders are okay.
Now we need to repair the bikes and make sure everything is ready for tomorrow. We cannot change what happened today or the positions we have on the grid, so we have to focus on what we can control and prepare ourselves as well as possible for the race. Tomorrow is another day, and we will fight.

Obviously, it was not the qualifying session we wanted. The crash was quite a big one and it was a difficult moment, especially after the good feeling we had yesterday. The most important thing is that I am okay and that there is no serious injury. The team now has a lot of work to do to repair the bike, so I really want to thank them for that effort.
We cannot change what happened today, so now we need to reset, stay focused and think about tomorrow. We start from P18, which is not where we wanted to be, but the race is long and there will be opportunities. I will give everything tomorrow and try to recover as many positions as possible.

It was a very difficult qualifying session for me. Unfortunately, I crashed early and I could not go back on track, so I didn't have the opportunity to set a lap time. Of course, it is disappointing because we were working to improve the feeling with the bike and find more performance today. But this is racing, and sometimes these things happen.
The most important thing is that I am okay. Now we have to understand what happened, repair the bike and prepare for tomorrow. Starting from P28 is not easy, but I will keep fighting from the first lap and try to recover as many positions as possible. We will never give up.
