FURUSATO TAKES ANOTHER STEP FORWARD AT THE DUTCHGP WITH P12 QUALIFYING RESULT
Idemitsu Honda Team Asia Moto2 riders Taiyo Furusato and Jacob Roulstone have completed qualifying day at the Tissot Grand Prix of the Netherlands, the 10th round of the 2026 Moto2 World Championship, with both riders continuing their positive progression at the iconic TT Circuit Assen.

Taiyo Furusato confirmed his strong momentum in Assen, securing 12th position in qualifying with a best lap time of 1’35.670. After already earning direct access to Q2 thanks to his strong Friday performance, the Japanese rookie continued fighting among the fastest riders in the category and secured a fourth-row starting position for Sunday’s race.
Furusato’s progress throughout the season has been clear, with the #72 rider building confidence and consistency race by race. Already showing the potential to fight inside the points positions, his objective for tomorrow is to continue this momentum and battle for a place inside the top ten.
On the other side of the garage, Jacob Roulstone continued reducing the gap to the Moto2 front runners during a demanding qualifying session. The Australian rookie finished Q1 in 12th position and will start tomorrow’s race from P26. Despite the grid position, Roulstone showed another improvement in his learning process, reducing his gap and continuing to build his feeling with the Moto2 machine.
The qualifying sessions took place under another hot Assen day, with 33° air temperature, 39% humidity and a track temperature of 46°. With extremely tight lap times across the Moto2 field, every small improvement remains crucial ahead of race day.

Today was another very hot day here in Assen, and the qualifying conditions were not easy. In Q1, Jacob showed good consistency with his laps and improved his performance. Until the final part of the session, he was fighting well and showed another step forward. He continues improving, and that progression is very important.
Taiyo also did a good job. He was already directly into Q2 and managed to improve his performance again. He improved around 0.6 seconds compared with yesterday by himself, which shows his confidence is growing.
He finished P12, only 0.4 seconds away from the fastest rider, and this weekend the gap between all the riders is extremely tight. The competition level is very high, so considering this, both riders did well.
Jacob is also closing the gap and understanding more and more. Both riders are going in the right direction, so we need to keep this momentum and see what we can achieve tomorrow.

Today was a good day. This morning in practice I did a race simulation and my feeling was not bad. We continued improving some areas, especially the tough points from yesterday.
In qualifying we made another step forward. Maybe the lap could have been even better because I made two small mistakes, but overall we are happy. I think we are more ready for the race than in any other race this season at the moment. We have a good feeling and we will see tomorrow. I hope we can enjoy the race and fight for a good result.

I’m quite pleased with the improvement today. Of course, qualifying could have gone a little bit better, but it was positive to see that we have identified mainly one area where I am losing a lot of time.
I also have to remember that I only jumped on a Moto2 bike in April, so compared with the other riders I still have a lot of things to learn. Every session is important for my experience.
Today we made a nice step forward. I’m disappointed that I couldn’t put together a stronger lap, but I gave everything I had. The feeling for the race tomorrow is good. We have improved and I’m looking forward to fighting.
