This weekend (20-22 August), the Honda Racing UK team is looking forward to being back on their home turf, as Cadwell Park returns after two years, with the sixth round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship taking place at the Lincolnshire circuit. Just days after leaving Donington Park, the Honda team will be looking to continue where they left off at the previous round with Glenn Irwin back on the podium and Tom Neave taking his first win in 2021 aboard the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. Back on home soil and hoping to continue their good form of late, this will be the debut race weekend for the CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP at Cadwell, where Glenn will be looking to add to his podium credits after finishing second at Thruxton and taking two second place finishes at Donington Park’s National Circuit. Glenn’s Japanese teammates Ryo Mizuno and Takumi Takahashi will tackle the famous Cadwell ‘Mountain’ for the first time under race conditions at the weekend, but have managed to get some crucial time at the 2.18-mile circuit with some track days in the run-up to the sixth round. Local-lad Tom is eager to get going at his home race and having boosted his points in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship with a win and a second place at Donington, he’s now sitting second in the standings, joint on points (113) with current leader Alex Olsen. Superbike first practice gets underway at 11am on Friday 20 August, with Race 1 taking place on Saturday and Race 2 and Race 3 on Sunday. Click here for the full timetable.

Honda Racing UK I'm looking forward to Cadwell this weekend, it's probably a bit more special with it being Honda's home round. The reception from the Eurosport feature last week has been great and feeling that support track side can hopefully carry us to some good results. Last week I dislocated my shoulder and during the week I have been to see the right people, continuing to do the right thing, but until I ride the bike I won't know fully where I am. We have the test this evening at Cadwell, which will be good so I can see where we are with the shoulder, I'll probably limit myself and reduce the laps we do to help the shoulder. If we can be comfortable from a shoulder point of view, I think we can do a good job on the Fireblade, it's a circuit that the bike goes well at.

Honda Racing UK It's still very difficult to know where to go and what line to take at Cadwell. In Japan there are many circuits that are wide and flat, so compared to this circuit it is like riding a motocross course. I'm not sure if I like it yet, but it is one of the special circuits that represent BSB, so I will try to like it as much as I can this weekend. I also changed my approach a little bit from the last race, and I was able to get my first BSB points. I am learning and growing with each race so I will continue to work from many different perspectives to make sure I can continue to score points!

Honda Racing UK I'm not fully confident with Cadwell Park and the layout, but know this will come over time, we have the test this evening and with the practice sessions, hopefully I will be more prepared for the first race on Saturday. Cadwell isn't too different to the other UK circuits, except for the jumps! It's such a different circuit to Japan circuits as it's very narrow. I hope to have a good result this weekend as it will give me confidence, so I will try my best to get the result soon.

Honda Racing UK With the way the championship has been building for me with the recent podiums and win, this is the perfect time to be heading to my home round, we’ve had a few good tests at Cadwell Park, and I know we can be strong come rain or shine. I’m not getting carried away too much with the championship now I’m joint on points with Alex, I’m going to focus round by round. It’s a shame we have just the one race this weekend with it being my home race, but I’m excited to get back racing there and have a home crowd behind me over the weekend.
